The Green Tourism Silver Award

In 2015, a qualified assessor for the Green Tourism Business Scheme undertook an accreditation grading visit here at Assembly Rooms and Church Hill Theatre. "An excellent team with some really positive actions have helped Assembly Rooms join green tourism at the SILVER level." The linked report is a statement on the performance of the business as a sustainable tourism operation.

Sustainability Vision

At Assembly Rooms Edinburgh and Church Hill Theatre we strive to be a leader in sustainability, caring for our employees and customers, seeking to enrich the quality of life for the wider community and serve as good stewards of society and the environment.

 

  • Engage staff and clients in ongoing dialogue, inquiry, and discovery of more sustainable practices through research and good operating practices. Empower employees with awareness in sustainability issues and a capacity to contribute to the construction of sustainability.

  • Integrate sustainable practices into all aspects of business operations, focusing both on the current and future implications minimising our ecological footprint and contributing to the goal of climate neutrality.

  • Ensure that staff involved in the procurement of goods and services have the necessary guidance and training to allow them to consider the inclusion of sustainability criteria.

  • Assist and encourage suppliers to operate more sustainably through effective supplier engagement.

  • Participate in green initiatives and activities including Green Tourism Business Scheme that educate our staff and community and indicate our sustainable practices.

  • Embrace health, diversity, tolerance, and human rights as principles by which policy and process are designed.

Green Events Policy

We consider sustainability and environmental impact with all events coming to the Assembly Rooms Edinburgh and Church Hill Theatre and look at each element which contributes towards this. You can read more here on our pdf Green Event Policy (120 KB) .

Feedback

We reply on our clients and users of the facility to feedback on our environmental policies and green sustainability. We follow up with all cliens and within our survey include asking "how green did you find the venue?".
