Duchess of cornwall2

Assembly Rooms Edinburgh welcomed a very special guest on Tuesday 22 July as The Duchess of Cornwall (known as The Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland) made an official visit to the third Edinburgh International Fashion Festival.

The Duchess spent two hours at the venue attending a selection of events being hosted by The Assembly Rooms on behalf of the Fashion Festival. The organisers of the Festival were excited to welcome The Duchess who was pleased to meet the young talented fashion designers.

This July high fashion will be in the air as Assembly Rooms prepares to welcome the Edinburgh International Fashion Festival on 21st & 22nd July.

The Fashion Festival, created by Dutch Model Anna Freemantle, has made an impressive mark on the international scene and, now in its third year, it has established itself as a hot date on the fashion calendar.

A highlight of the Festival will undoubtedly be a major exhibition of work by renowned photographers and fashion industry giants, John “Rankin” Waddell and Helena Christensen which will be unveiled in the Assembly Rooms Ballroom. Director Anna Freemantle has curated this exhibition to help launch the Retina Festival this year with support from the Edinburgh International Fashion Festival.

Crowds began arriving in the early hours, with some dedicated youngsters camping out all night to ensure they had a prime spot to meet their favourite judge. The famous four arrived one by one with the largest cheers reserved for returning judge, Cheryl Cole - although Simon Cowell, Mel B and Louis Walsh all got their fair share of applause as they entered, stopping to take selfies with the crowd!
