The Music of Cream

50th Anniversary World Tour

 003-Cream-2019-Edinburgh-Hero.jpg

Saturday 5 October

From £29.70

Cream was a chemical explosion like no other, the blueprint for every supergroup to follow and the heavy blues precursor to Hendrix, Zeppelin and so much more. Fifty years since their earth-shaking debut album, the bloodlines of that hallowed trilogy come together to pay tribute to Cream's legendary four-album reign over the psychedelic frontier of the late 1960s. Kofi BAKER (son of Ginger) and Malcolm BRUCE (son of Jack) unite with Will JOHNS (Eric's nephew by Marriage and son of Zeppelin/ Stones/ Hendrix engineer Andy) to unleash the lightning that electrified a generation. Feel the fire and the freedom of "Spoonful", "Strange Brew", "Sunshine of Your Love", "White Room", "Crossroads" and "Badge" — performed by master musicians whose lives have been steeped in the Cream spirit and legacy.

EXPERIENCE a Once-In-a-lifetime concert salute to the most innovative and explosive supergroup of all time, in the hands of those that knew them best.

WATCH as they interplay live with their fathers on the big screen; classic moments in rock history brought back to life.

LISTEN as they share personal insights and stories, complete with rare, yet to be seen family footage and photographs.

Taking place at The Assembly Rooms, ‘Into The Freezer’ will be the first time the New York-based Explorers Club has staged an event in Scotland.

Captain Louis Rudd MBE, Mark Wood and Paul Vicary will share stories and footage from their expeditions in the Arctic and Antarctica and help motivate their audience by revealing what can be achieved when you push mind and body to the limit.

This exclusive event will be hosted by Scotland’s greatest living Polar explorer, Craig Mathieson – the founder of The Polar Academy and a member of the world-renowned Explorers Club.
The speakers will be joined by teenagers from Bathgate Academy who participated in The Polar Academy’s latest expedition to Arctic Greenland in April this year and will be part of a documentary being shown on BBC Scotland this October.

The speakers:

Captain Louis Rudd MBE

Mark Wood
A former soldier and firefighter, Mark Wood has completed more than 30 major expeditions. Paul Vicary

My Last Supper with Jay Rayner

 Jay_rayner_text.jpg

7.30pm, Saturday 23 November

From £22

Imagine you are about to die. You have one meal left. What are you going to have?

It’s the question award-winning restaurant critic, MasterChef judge and writer Jay Rayner has been asked most often by audiences across the UK. It happened so often that he decided the time had come to investigate the concept of the last supper and why it intrigues us so. Is it because of the opportunity it presents us with to let your appetites run riot? Or is it because it’s a greedy way in which to tell the story of your own life? And if so, what would a man like Jay Rayner, who for two decades has made a living eating out in restaurants, choose to put on the menu?

In this barnstorming new show, based on his new book, Rayner investigates our fascination with last suppers and tells the stories of the killer dishes that would end up on his table: how he was introduced to oysters by his late mother, how he almost burnt down a hotel because of his love for snails in bubbling garlic butter and of the many ways by which the mighty pig has fed him over the years. Plus, he’ll get the audience to design their own last meal. My Last Supper follows the success of his sell out shows, My Dining Hell and The Ten Food Commandments, which have taken audiences by storm across the UK, Australia, New Zealand and the US.

My Last Supper with Jay Rayner. It’s a show to die for.
