Since 1797 the Assembly Rooms have played host to some of Edinburgh and Scotland’s most prestigious events. Britain has a number of fantastic cities that host a range of events but we believe Edinburgh events are simply the best.
We have compiled the top five reasons why Edinburgh and, and of course, Assembly Rooms, should be your next event or conference venue of choice.
Edinburgh is steeped in history
Obviously there is a rather dominant castle that rests in pride of place, attracting millions of visitors every year. Edinburgh is rich in history that not only makes it a wonderful city to explore after an event but it also offers a collection of the most iconic venues in Britain for event planners to choose from.

Assembly Rooms has staged some of the most prominent events in the city’s history. In 1812 King George hosted the ‘Peers Ball’ which attracted the great and good of Edinburgh society which actually caused a traffic jam on the evening as the crowds gathered to see the finery of the gentry attending the ball. Our recent refurbishment has returned this wonderfully grand building to its former glory making it a captivating conference venue with state of the art facilities.
Once the conference has finished your guests have a host of historic attractions to just a short stroll away such as The Real Mary King’s Close, Ghost Tours of Edinburgh, The City Dungeon and the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Easy to Get Around
We may have a city underneath a city which prohibits us from having an underground but we have more than made up for this with all other modes of transport.
Luckily the Assembly Rooms is perfectly positioned right in the heart of the New Town which makes it easily accessible via all modes of transport.
The new tram system ensures that if you are flying into Edinburgh you are no more than 30 minutes from town.

Our bus lane ensures our award winning buses keep great time, most of which drop off around our city centre location.
Assembly Rooms is ideally placed between our two main train stations ensuring a short walk from either.
And the city centre has a number of multi-story car parks within walking distance if you are close enough to bring the car. So all in all we are fairly well covered and with the Lothian Regional Transport App available on both iPhone and Android you will be able to arrange and pay for much of your city centre travel before you arrive.
