The internet has given us apps such as Houseparty and Zoom to catch up with friends and family, tech which has allowed us to live-stream quizzes and take part in online yoga classes but now, we can even sing together in a virtual choir. If the videos of cities in lockdown coming together to sing on their balconies left you with a lump in your throat, here’s your chance to add your vocal cords to the orchestra of voices.
Some of the top places to sing along with strangers include:
The Sofa Singers - https://www.thesofasingers.com/
A free online singing event which aims to ‘bring people together from around the world to spark joy and human connection.’ Hundreds of singers join a weekly Zoom call to learn a new song together. The next 45minute session is taking place today (Friday 24 April) at 11:00am GMT.
Lifefullness Live - https://www.lifefulness.io/
The daily sing-a-long takes place at 6pm GMT on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with choirs led by a different performer every day. People free to join a video call near them to sing with neighbours, or stream the event on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or YouTube and simply sing along at the top of your voice.
Andrew Lloyd Webber Musicals - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnVSzQ6rME82AzW1ctGcO_g
Why not ‘audition’ for a spot in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s weekly #ComposerInIsolation singalong. Last week’s video showcased some of the best Josephs singing Any Dream Will Do, including professional opera singers, cute kids and even a cat!
