Having a Green Christmas

Untitled design 53

We are always thinking Green here at Assembly Rooms and we thought we would share some tips for a green Christmas to take with you whether it be at home or in the office.

  • Did you know we collectively throw away 226.8k miles of wrapping paper each Christmas? We recommend recycled paper options and recycling it again afterwards

  • Buying or making candles this #Christmas? Go for soy, beeswax or veg wax as paraffin candles damage the environment

  • We love the idea of #recycling the previous year's Christmas cards to make this year's Christmas decorations. Very green! It could even become an office team building session!

  • If using Christmas lights, be sure to go for LED ones which can use up to 95% less energy than larger traditional bulbs!

  • Get your recycling head on by preparing for plastic, paper, glass & food waste ahead of Christmas when your consumption will likely rise

  • What are your thoughts on electronic greeting cards over traditional ones? Electronic is definitely more sustainable

  • Have you ever considered a living Christmas tree? Once the holidays have passed you can plant it in the garden

  • In the UK, an estimated one billion cards are binned after Christmas. Consider reducing your impact by buying recycled and recycling afterwards
